I was given some walnut to work with, but some of it had rough edges, to put it mildly. So this shop project was to construct a jig that would allow me to trim off the rough edges. Since you can't really slap any ol' rough piece of wood against the rip fence without some expectation of pinching the work and risking some really nasty kickback, the project was to build a jig that would ride smoothly against the fence, then clamp the rough piece to that. So I got a sheet of melamine, trimmed it to size, then routed some tracks for several MatchFit dovetail clamps to slide in.
